Louisiana

I'm sitting here in the den of my Granddaddy's house and my heart is overwhelmed. We buried my Uncle Harold yesterday and he will be missed greatly. It all happened so fast that it seems so unreal. The day that he found out he had cancer it was exactly one month later that he went to be with Jesus. Yes, there may be a lot of questions as to why, but our GOD knows best. My sweet Aunt Virginia has a lot she will be facing along with surgery within the next couple of weeks. Please keep the Davis family in your prayers during the coming weeks.

My uncles funeral was at the same funeral home that my Mammaw's funeral was at 2 years ago. It was this time of year that she passed away and I still have a hard time and this week brought back a lot of memories. But there is one thing that I can say...I am so thankful that God gives us the strength to go through things that come our way in this life. Like my friend told me last night, "HIS Strength is PERFECT when our strength is gone". That is so true. And I am so thankful that God can carry us through each and every day.

I've only taken a couple pictures this weekend...can you believe it? But I did get some from my cousin that I wanted to share.

These are some of the flowers at the cemetary

Uncle Harold loved his grandkids so much! At the gravesite, all 5 of his grandkids laid flowers on his casket.

My beautiful cousins...Whitney, Rachel, and Micaela

Rachel and her brother Derrick

All the flowers were so beautiful!

My awesome cousins...these are Uncle Harolds 5 grandkids that he loved so much! Micaela, Rachel, Whitney, Jared, and Derrick...wish we all didn't live so far away so we could see each other more often.

After the funeral, we went back to the church to have a wonderful brisket dinner that was catered in for us. This is Whitney and Rachel.

Love this picture! This is Granddaddy and Jared.

Just sitting around talking

Tonight, I did get a couple of pictures of me with Granddaddy. I so heart him!

I love giving him lovins!!

I so enjoyed getting to see all of my family...even under the circumstances. I'll be heading back home tomorrow morning. Praying for a safe trip!

Headed South...

I'm leaving tomorrow evening to head towards Louisiana for my Uncles funeral. I'm not sure how my internet access will be once I'm there. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Gotta love po'dunk towns! :) So I may not be blogging for a few days. Hope yall have a wonderful week!

ME

"Active for Life"

The past few months I have been working on becoming more healthy. And slowly being successful at it. My job is sponsoring “Active for Life” that is put on by the American Cancer Society. It’s a 10-week program that helps individuals become more active and loose weight with the encouragement from their co-workers/work place. I have decided to accept this challenge above and beyond what I am already doing. The challenge starts Monday, January 25th. There are 810 companies and 111,000 employees that have decided to participate in this challenge. If you want more information, you can view the American Cancer Society website at: http://www.cancer.org/docroot/subsite/greatamericans/content/Active_For_Life.asp. If you are interested in accepting this challenge and your work place isn’t sponsoring this, let me know and I will form a group outside of work (even if you are out of town). It’s a good support system. Then any info that I receive, I can pass on to you. So far, there are 14 people on our team at work. God has helped me with what I’ve done so far, and I’m excited to see the extra results this may bring!

God's Word...

God always knows what you need and when you need it! Simple thought? Yes. But it's so true. Today was full of amazing church! Bro Jason Sciscoe and God rocked the house today!! This morning he preached about how the enemy has intimidated us long enough and we're going to "Take Everything Back" that he stole from us! and tonight he preached on how sometimes when life gets us down that we need to "Just Breathe"! I'm so glad that we can rest in Him! It was simply amazing and God is really doing some awesome things at TLC and I am so thankful to be apart of it!

Uncle Harold

Just wanted you all to know that my Uncle Harold went to be with Jesus this morning. Thank you all for your prayers...please continue to pray for my Aunt Virginia and the family.

New Name!

So I decided to launch a new name for my blog! I'm really excited about it! I originally called it "Krista's Korner" because I wanted a name but didn't have time to think of something creative. And now...after three years (ha!) I finally came up with a new name. It's creative! I love the color red and the 'door' just means that there is so much to walk through in this life. There are so many adventures in this thing called life. There are so many things that inspire us and things to experience that is all apart of who we are! Hope you enjoy reading about my adventures and inspirations through life!

His Strength is Perfect!

I've had a rough couple of days and a lot of things going on in my head. But God never gives us more than we can handle, right?! I was getting ready for work this morning and it hit me like a ton of bricks. "His Strength is Perfect"! I've had this song on my heart all day, and I just can't get away from it. So I thought that I would share it with you. It's a simple little reminder that sometimes when we go through things in life, that God is always there and He NEVER fails us. Sometimes when we think we just can't go any further, He will still carry us through...for His strength IS perfect! I'm so thankful for the old songs. Sometimes I think God sends us little tests to see just how well we pass. I pray that I pass them the first time so I don't have to keep repeating them! ha! I'm so thankful that HIS strength IS perfect! I am so thankful that I don't have to live this life without God. How do people make it without Him? Thank You Jesus for carrying us through each and every day.

Could it Be?

The largest icicle ever?! My Dad found this last week sometime, on the side of our house, when all the snow was starting to melt. It was about 7 feet tall. I've never seen an icicle so big, so just had to share. lol

Catching Up...

So I decided that I would take a week and not be online. But...now I'm back. God has really done some great things this week. I first want to say what an AMAZING church service we had this morning! Bro and Sis Kenneth Haney were in service with us today and God rocked the house!! The spirit of God moved SOO strong! We must get desparate and never stop until we get our answer!!

During my prayer time this week, I heard this song that really spoke out to me and I want to share it with you. Don't forget to pause the music at the bottom of the page before you play this. Tye Tribbett sings this song, "I Need You". Listen carefully to the words. "I can't be without You. I can't live without You. I need You! You're the very air that I breathe!" May we never get to the place that we think we can live without God in our life. HE is the reason why I live.

Lord You are so amazing
Lord You are strong and Mighty
Lord You are full of mercy
Lord Your name above all others
And I can not imagine
What my life would be without You
I know I would be hopeless
I'm a wretch undone without You

That's why I Can't be without You
And I Won't last without You
I need You
I need You
I'm so lost without You
I know that I would fail alone
I need You
I need You
Lord You are so amazing
Lord You are a strong tower
Lord You are pure and holy
Lord You are the very air I breathe

And I cannot imagine
what my life would be without You
I know I would be hopeless
I'm a wretch undone without You
That's why I Can't be without You
And I Won't last without You
I need You
I need You
I'm so lost without You
I know that I would fail alone
I need You
I need You
Oh Oh Oh Oh
Oh Oh Oh Oh
I need you
And I can not imagine what my life would be without you

I also wanted to give a quick update on my family. My Uncle Harold in Louisiana, is still in the hospital. They found more cancer now in his spine and are giving him a max of 2 months to live.

Also, my 12 year old nephew, Todd, was hospitalized on Friday with a bad case of pneumonia. He has had ear infections in both ears and his sinus infection turned into pneumonia. He has had fever for 2 weeks or more. He had a really bad day yesterday and the Doctor is calling the infectious disease doctor to find out why his fever isn't coming down and staying down with the meds they are giving him.

I am trusting God for a miracle in both my uncle and my nephew. God IS a HEALER!

Wordless...

Auntie K and Noelle after church today

Winter Fun!

Saturday was so much fun!! Michelle, Venita, and I decided that we were going to go play in the snow! It's been so cold and it's been snowing every other day and everybody was getting ancy and didn't want to be at home anymore. So...we decided to make the best of it and have fun! And thats what we did. It was a blast!! It ended up being 16 degrees outside...but its been in the negatives, so it felt warm....for the first 5 minutes. LOL We only lasted about 30 minutes I think before we were completely frozen. It took me over an hour to thaw out. lol

So we go outside, and the snow is up to our knees!

Michelle and I about to dig into the snow!

Goofy-ness! :)

Hey Look! The SUN decided to come out and play too!!

Michelle fell and was trying to get up! LOL

Us girls making our new fashion statements. LOL Yes, you can still be modest and warm at the same time! ha!

Michelle and I again...lol

Michelle and I about to make some snow angels! LOL Ready...Set...GO!

hahaha!!! I have no words for this picture! But it cracks me up!

Venita trying to go sledding....NOT on a hill! haha She did...go about half a foot! haha!!

Venita about to make a snow angel! Ready...Set...Go!

Venita kept trying to get up but kept falling back down and Michelle was trying to help her. LOL It was hilarious!

Ok, so I was trying to get an action picture...running and jumping up in the snow. The snow was so deep that you couldn't really tell.......THEN.....

....BAM!!!.....I fell FLAT on my FACE!! LOL It was so funny and we all 3 busted out laughing!

haha...I apparently had a hard time getting back up! LOL

I was so excited to get to my new home I just bought! ROFLOL

Yeah!! Finally got there!

Venita fell when she got to the house. Why is this so funny? We were all laughing at each other so it was fine...it was too funny...but hey, she did catch herself! LOL

Pretty sure, Michelle was the smart one here and didn't try to go in the house. haha

Time to go back inside!! We were completely numb by this point!

Oh man, that was so much fun! I hadn't played in the snow since I was a kid! Maybe next time we'll make a Frosty! :) It took us over an hour to completely thaw out. But it was worth it. So much fun!
